Regelbau B1-1a Small German MG Embrasure - Wargaming 3D Printed Model
The experience of German sappers, gained during the expansion of defensive positions, was used at the end of 1936 in newly developed designs of permanent fortifications battle shelters, which were to be erected as typical constructions in the next building season (German Regelbau).
In November 1936, several shelter projects were presented for review. One of the most interesting studies concerned the combat shelter with an extremely compact body.
Designers gave up the rules for separating the combat room and crew room (readiness room).
The newly developed facility consisted of only two rooms, a combat chamber and a gas lock.
The combat shelter for a heavy machine gun without a ready room (German: MG-Schartenstand ohne Bereitschaftsraum) received the name Regelbau B1-1 in March 1937.
The building was intended for frontal fire.
