Bauform 246 with Panzer Turret (Pz.Kpfw.-Turm VK 30.01) - Wargaming 3D STL

The Bauform 246 was designed to mount the tank turret Vk 3001 (Pz.Kpfw.-Turm VK 30.01), the original documents state that four of these turret were build in the Atlantikwall and most were found in Normandy.

The bunker with this turret was to have a supply of 168 rounds for the cannon and 21,000 rounds for the machine gun. The armor of the tower reached 50 mm in the front, side and rear parts, the ceiling was 15 mm thick. The height of the tower itself was about 1000 mm, the concrete foundation was about 330 mm high. One tower was tested, the rest were prepared. May 5, 1944, all 6 towers were to be mounted in concrete positions on the Atlantic Wall. However, only four towers were used. 14.9.1944 In Fest reports that two towers are to be located on the so-called Westwall (West Wall - defensive western line). These towers were reported on September 21, 1944 in the state of Höherer Pionier Kommandeur z.b.v. 4. Heeresgruppe B and Höherers Kommando Saarpfalz applied for a location and an order for the installation of those towers. In the report of March 26, 1945, all towers are kept in positions on the Atlantic Wall and the West Wall.
